Art Club

Dear valuable parents and precious students,

I hope that you're all having a great start to the new academic year! This year I will be running an afterschool Art Club for the year 5/6’s. The Art Club will run every Wednesday after school from 3:45pm - 4:30pm in the Literacy 2 Classroom. This class is aimed to provide students with the opportunity to extend on their artistic skills and express themselves through colours and craft. Each week we will complete a different art/craft mini project. The Art Club is aimed at providing students a happy, safe and creative environment for self-expression and loads of great fun. Students will be informed on Monday if the club is cancelled. The Art Club will commence on Wednesday on the 17th of February, 2016.I plan on running this Art Club purely on recyclable goods. I believe that this will help educate students on the importance of recycling, while making them aware of global warming issues and helping them find create and fun ways to help protect the world we all live in. In order to do this, I would like to request that parents donate the following items that they may have lying around the house and have no use of:

• any and all forms of paint and paint brushes
• any and all forms of glue (PVA glue, super glue, craft glue, etc..)
• double sided tape, washi tape, duct tape, etc…
• magnets or magnetic strips
• dice, wooden cubes, wooden pegs
• thread/yarn/string/twine/wool/ribbons
• pipe cleaners, feathers, popsicle sticks
• beads or old jewels
• empty jars (with or without lids)
• magazines and/or old books
• empty cardboard boxes (these could be cereal boxes, empty tissue boxes etc..)
• sturdy boxes or containers to help store and organize these items
• or anything else that you may think we can make use of

Please keep in mind that I only wish to take items that you already have at home that can be recycled. Please do not go out of your way to buy anything. Remember, one of the lessons I wish to teach the students is that someone's trash can be another's treasure.
